How to choose a furniture factory in China
A big showroom and a glossy catalogue don't guarantee quality. Here's what to actually look at.

China has thousands of furniture factories, and many look equally convincing: spacious showrooms, glossy catalogues, polite managers. But the quality of a sofa is decided in the workshop, not the showroom.
Look at production, not the display piece
Display pieces are often made by a factory's best craftsmen. Ask to see the workshop and furniture in progress: frames, upholstery, finishing. That's the level your order will be made at.
Specialisation beats size
A factory that makes everything rarely makes everything well. Choose makers with a clear focus: upholstery, cabinetry, stone tables. A small specialised factory is often more careful than a giant with a conveyor.
See how they handle changes
Ask to change the size or fabric of a model you like. A good factory will clarify details, offer samples and a drawing. A vague 'no problem' is a warning sign.
Contract and payment
Staged payment is normal: a deposit to start and the balance after inspection. If a factory wants everything upfront and won't allow pre-shipment checks, look elsewhere.
We choose factories by exactly these criteria and inspect every batch. Send us a model you like and we'll tell you who makes it well.
