Upholstery fabrics: what to choose for homes, cafés and hotels
Velvet, bouclé, linen, leather and faux leather: where each works and what to check in samples.

The same sofa in two fabrics is two different sofas: in look, feel and lifespan.
For the home
Velvet and bouclé give softness and depth of colour. Linen weaves look calm and natural. With kids or pets, look at fabrics with a protective treatment.
For cafés and restaurants
You need durability: high-rub-count fabrics or faux leather that wipes clean. Light pile fabrics in a dining room wear out fast.
For hotels
Cleanability and a consistent shade across the batch matter most. Record the fabric reference and dye lot so repeat orders match.
How to check samples
Look at samples in daylight, rub them and see how they crease. Ask for a larger piece: a small swatch hides the pattern and texture.
